Piscataquis County Treasurer

The Piscataquis County Treasurer is responsible for the collection and disbursal of all funds for the County.  Funds are collected through assessments to the towns and the Unorganized Territory and the collection of fees for services. 

The Treasurer's Office maintains a chart of accounts for the County and general ledgers for the County and Unorganized Territories, oversees the preparation and reporting of payroll, and posts all receipts and disbursements of County funds.  The Treasurer provides periodic reports to the County Commissioners and Department Heads on the status of County accounts. The County uses the TRIO accounting system to account for County funds.

 The Treasurer's Office also invests County and UT funds, secures a line of credit for the County to ensure cash flow throughout the year, and works with the County Manager and other Department Heads to prepare the County and Unorganized Territory budgets.  The Treasurer's Office provides information to an independent auditing agency in preparation of the annual County and Unorganized Territory financial reports.

The Treasurer is an elected position in Piscataquis County.  The term of office is 4 years.
