Orneville Transfer Station

Serving: Landowners in Orneville, Williamsburg, Ebeemee, Katahdin Ironworks Townships and other Northeastern Piscataquis Unorganized Territories with proof of landownership.

The Orneville Transfer Station is located 1.8 miles on the Boyd Lake Road off Route 11, between Milo and Bradford. The transfer station is a full-service solid waste handling facility which provides for the transfer or recycling of municipal solid waste, small loads of construction/demolition debris and bulky municipal waste.

Hours of Operations are:

Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Closed: New Year’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July and Christmas.

Appliance disposal fees:

  • Appliances containing Freon (refrigerators, air conditioners) $12.00
  • Major metal appliances (without Freon) – washers, dryers, ranges, woodstoves, freezers, microwaves $5.00

Demolition Debris

  • No charge for partial loads (less than a single cubic yard) except for the following bulk items which will be charged individually:
  • Sofa, mattress, box spring, upholstered chair or other furniture $10.00 each

Large amounts of demolition debris are not accepted, nor are entire buildings being demolished or loads of asphalt roofing shingles. Residents should either contract for a dumpster to be located where the demolition is to occur or haul their own demolition debris directly to Pine Tree Landfill or to Waste Management at the owner’s expense.

Recycling:

Universal wastes are accepted (electronics, lights, ballasts, televisions, computers, etc ). The recycling fees are $5 for each television and computer.

The following materials will be accepted and recycled: Newspaper, Magazines, Corrugated cardboard, Metal cans, and plastics #1 and #2, colored plastic, milk jugs and #1 clear.

The following wastes are not permitted at the Orneville Transfer Station:

  • Large quantities (more than a single cubic yard) of demo debris
  • Asphalt roofing shingles
  • tires
  • Household pesticides and hazardous wastes
  • Waste oil
  • Asbestos
  • Bio-medical waste
  • Calcium Hypochlorite
  • Electrical capacitors and transformers
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Laboratory chemicals
  • Sandblast grit
